It's such a bummer that ALL of the neighbors liked it when we had the rooster last summer for that brief week - but the one difficult neighbor vowed to not only make our lives misrable - but made some troubling threats about the potential demise of our flock. Easier to just not have a rooster!<br /><br />I gotta say - having the roos around is so fun - until they all find voice! Then it's funny for a while - then, well, with a bunch of them - not so much! I'm so glad that my kids are growing up knowing them.<br /><br />If you ever get the chance, checkout the Radio Family Theatre (through Focus on the Family) audio versions - we take them whenever we're on a road trip - I swear my kids have heard them 500 times. But we all still love them and haul them out whenever we're going to be in the car for more than an hour! I also love the "Luke Reports" series they did, too. It was just what I needed! The worship was amazing. In my old age I've become a much more emotional worshipper - and wow - good thing I had kleenex!<br /><br />I haven't actually done any of Beth's studies. My husband has - he likes them (and he has his M.Div!) and thinks she's really good. I'm big time into Precepts - love the deep, in depth stuff. But a girlfriend is trying to talk me into doing a Beth study for a side pursuit. I had no idea they existed until the first movie came out.<br />I loved it so much, I had to read all the books.<br />Now, I'm not too much of a reader (I would be if all the kids were grown-I'm sure), so one week is great for me to get through 7 books.<br />I fell in love as well, and I was so upset with Prince Caspian the movie. There is so much missing and to much artistic license was taken.<br />But, I digress. The Cuckoo Maran's are gorgeous and lay the most amazing eggs! We have one that's about a year old (her name is BB - you can find pictures of her if you use the label function on the right hand side). It's awesome! We use it in the chicken coop and in the garden. Last year was the first year we'd used it in the garden. We planted our seedlings, threaded the soaker hoses, sprinkled DE, put down newspaper, then put mulch down on top of that, then dusted with the DE again. Seriously - between the DE and the chickens - almost NO bugs last year!
